The Super Essex Conference held its Track and Field Championships for the Colonial and Independence Divisions on Friday under rainy conditions at Schools Stadium in Newark. In the Colonial Division, Newark Academy and Caldwell battled for first and second places for both genders with Newark Academy dominating on the girls side over second place Caldwell while the Chiefs edged the Minutemen for the boy’s title. Science Park came in third and Central fourth for both the boys and girls.

In the Independence Division, Malcolm X Shabazz High School captured both the boys and girls titles fighting off Cedar Grove who took both second place trophies.
