Top seeded Mt St Dominic Academy and Nutley, the third seed, saw their plans of competing for the Essex County Softball Tournament title ruined by upsets on Saturday. Montclair, the ninth seed, edged the Mount 4-3 while Nutley also lost a close contest 2-1 to Cedar Grove who is seeded sixth. The tournament’s second seed, West Essex held to form in defeating Bloomfield (7) by a score of 3-0 and Livingston (4) moved past Newark Academy, 6-3.

The Semifinal Round is scheduled for Friday, May 20th at Ivy Hill Park, the home field for Seton Hall University. At 5pm it will be Cedar Grove facing West Essex and the 7pm game will have Montclair playing Livingston.

The Championship Final is set for the next evening, Saturday, May 21, 7pm also at Ivy Hill Park.
