The two top seeds of the Essex County Girls Soccer Tournament were eliminated on Wednesday evening in the tournament’s Semifinal Round. It took overtime and a shootout but Montclair Kimberley Academy, seeded fifth in the tournament, outlasted top seeded West Orange to score the big upset. MKA outshot West Orange 4-2 in the penalty shootout. Livingston (3) and Montclair (2) were tied at the half in the first semifinal. However Livingston scored the only second half goal to eliminate Montclair by a final score of 2-1 to record the win.
The Championship Final is scheduled for Saturday evening, 7:30pm, at Caldwell HS. It is the second game of the boys-girls soccer championship doubleheader. The boys final is scheduled for a 5:30pm start. Admission to the doubleheader will be $5 for adults and $2 for students and senior citizens.
