The Seedings for the 2013 Essex County Baseball and Softball Tournaments were released on Wednesday. Seton Hall Prep holds the 1st seed in baseball followed by Millburn (2), Montclair (3), Caldwell (4), Nutley (5), Newark Academy (6), Bloomfield (7), Livingston (8) , West Essex (9) with Cedar Grove (10) rounding out the top ten. Using the “Play In” format the top fourteen seeds receive a “bye” to the First Round. The remaining 11 teams shall play 2 Preliminary Rounds to enter that round of 16. Play begins on Thursday and continues on Saturday.
In Softball, the top seed goes to Livingston, then Mt St Dominic (2), Nutley (3), Bloomfield (4), West Essex (5), Cedar Grove (6), Newark Academy (7), West Orange (8), Caldwell (9) and Glen Ridge (10). Softball also uses the “Play In” bracket with a first Preliminary Round game scheduled between Orange (24) and Shabazz (25) followed by 4 second Preliminaries this weekend to select 2 teams to enter the First Round.
