Early evening sustained showers caused the semifinal round of the Essex County Softball Tournament to be postponed until today. The first game of the doubleheader, Nutley versus Livingston, was stopped in the second inning. The game will be started over, from the beginning at Ivy Hill Park at Seton Hall University with a 5pm first pitch. The second game, scheduled for 7pm will be Cedar Grove facing Mt St Dominic Academy.

Elsewhere, rain postponed the field events at the Super Essex Conference Track & Field Championships for Colonial and Independence Division Teams. Running events were able to continue later in the evening but slippery, unsafe conditions led officials to plan to resume the field events until Saturday morning. The championships, along with today’s American and Liberty Division meet, is held at Newark’s Schools Stadium.
