The top two seeds survived intense struggles Saturday evening and emerged as the finalists of the 2014 Essex County Boys Basketball Tournament. The semifinals, held at West Orange High School, first saw the East Side Red Raiders, seeded first, take on the Terriers of Newark Tech (4) and prevail in a hotly contested game by a score of 54-42. The other semifinal had the 2nd seeded Seton Hall Prep Pirates fight off the hungry Cougars of Columbia High School, the third seed, and come out on top by a score of 49-43.
The Championship game is scheduled for 1pm this Saturday, February 22nd at Essex County College in Newark. Doors will open for admission at 12:15pm with a $5 General Admission for all fans. Please note only current ECADA “red” passes can be accepted.
