The Semifinal Round of the Greater Newark Tournament, Essex County’s Baseball Championship, will not have the usual 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3 match ups on Saturday. Nutley, the 5th seed, edged past Columbia, seeded fourth, on Thursday to advance to the semifinals. Also, it was Newark Academy, seeded sixth, upsetting the third seeded Bloomfield Bengals to move on.
The Semifinals will be played at Verona’s Doe Goeltz Field on Saturday beginning at 11am.
The Championship Final is slated to be played Saturday, May 16th, noon, at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium in Newark.
