Essex County Tournament action heats up in the cold weather with four tournaments in action. The Preliminary Round of both the boys and girls basketball tournaments should have a total of 21 games played. Starting things off will be Thursday afternoon games with the boys’ team from Golda Och Academy (31st seed) going to Millburn (14th seed) at 4pm and Glen Ridge’s girls’ team (seeded 23rd) going to West Side (22nd seed) at 4:30pm. The remaining games will be held on Saturday (see below).
The Essex County Wrestling Tournament gets underway at Codey Arena in West Orange on Friday with the Preliminaries starting at 6pm. Saturday will see the Quarterfinals (at 10am) through Finals at 3pm) competed.
The Essex County Boys and Girls Track and Field Individuals Championships gets underway on Friday, 4pm, with the Pole Vault competition held at Ultimate Sports America in Oakland. The remainder of the meet shall be competed at the Jersey City Armory on Saturday starting at 9am for both running and field events. Look under our “Tournaments” tab for the order of events
